There is not much info about Eric Forrester during his first 28 years of marrige to Stephanie, except raising a family and bulding the business. There were some hints about a love affair between him and Margo Linly that took place during that period. An affair during which they came pretty close to a commitment.

So we can conclude that Eric was quite loyal to Stephanie. But everything changed one evening in a dinner party at the Forrester mansion, when Liz Henderson aka Beth Logan returned. The irony is that Stephanie was the one to bring her back into Eric's life.

It all begun when Stephanie decided to throw a dinner party at the Forrester mansion and hired Ruth Wilson to be the caterer. Stephanie didn't know then that Liz Henderson married Steven Logan and became Beth Logan, Ruth's associate.

During the dinner party Eric (who didn't know the cateres' identity) met Beth but didn't recognize her. But he did sense that there is something familier about her. Something that he couldn't place or keep out of his mind.

So when Stephanie wanted to throw another dinner party Eric insisted on hiring the same caterers. This time he did ask who is she, and was stunned to learn that this familiar woman is no other then his long lost college sweetheart Liz Henderson.

By that time his marrige to Stephanie was about to collapse and Eric was more then ready to move on with his life and start a new chapter. So Eric began to court Beth. He took her to dinners, gave her expensive gifts, and they got as far as kissing. But Beth kept her distance because after all he was a married man.

Stephanie, who sensed that there is another woman in Eric's life, decided to arrange a birthday party for him. And so she again hired Beth to cater the party, still without having any idea about who Beth was. During the party Beth saw how much Stephanie truly loved Eric and told him that she can't see him anymore.

But Eric was not going to give up that easily. So when Caroline was raped, he went to visit her at the Logan's house were she was staying. His hidden agenda in that visit was to get a chance to see Beth.

Thorne and Caroline's wedding gave Eric another chance to get together with Beth. He invited her to the wedding and designed a special drees for her. For his efforts Eric was paid with a passionate kiss.

After the wedding Eric&Beth's affair blossomed although Beth was still uneasy because Eric was married and doing nothing about it.

But beth was wrong. Eric was determinded to leave Stephanie. So he told her that he is involved again with his college sweetheart and wants a divorce. And Stephanie agreed (Ha Ha Ha what a joke) to give him one.

A very happy Eric hurried to Beth to tell her the great news. But he was very surprised and baffled by Beth's very moody reaction. Actually she told him to leave her alone. This reaction was caused by a lump that was found in Beth's breast and her unwillingness to burden Eric with her health problems.

Eric was not detered by Beth's attitude and pumped the truth from Brooke. Then he took Beth to a private dinner and promised her that he will always be there for her no matter what.

With Eric at her side, Beth agreed to a biopsy and masectomy. And when the doctor assured them that the cancer was gone, Beth and Eric started to plan their life together. Eric filed for a divorce and asked Storm Logan to start the proceedings to declare Steven Logan legally dead.

In the meantime Stephanie was not sitting at home preparing for her new life as a divorcee. Yes she did agree to give Eric his divorce, but being Stephanie she had no intention to give him one without a fight. So Stephanie began fighting by persuading Eric to keep the upcoming divorce a secret from their children and the press. Next she discovered that the other woman is no other but Beth Logan the mother of Brooke, the "little gold-digger from the valley" that she despises so much.

How do you separate a woman from her college sweetheart? You go out and find that woman's missing husband so you will be able to reunite them. That's exactly what Stephanie did. She hired a P.I. and returned Steven Logan home.

Steven Logan's homecoming didn't change anything as far as Eric and Beth were concerned. They stayed commited to each other and went on with their plans to be together. They even began to search for a mansion. It only slowed things because now Beth had to file for a divorce.

So Stephanie went to plan B. She got Bill Spencer to hire Steven and then relocate him to Paris. Hoping that this move will get Beth away from Eric. But it didn't help. Beth didn't want to move to Paris with Steven.

With Beth refusing to leave L.A., the divorce of Eric and Stephanie looked like a done deal, but then something unexpected happened. Eric stumbled upon Stephanie's most kept secret (at that time anyway). A secret she has kept for the last 25 years.

It all begun when Eric and Ridge got suspicious of Stephanie's mysterious visits to a house in Santa Monica. When Eric went there he was sure that it's a love nest. That's why no one was more surprised and shocked then Eric when he was introduced to his fifth child Angela, who was microcephalic. The same child that according to stephanie dies in birth while he was in Europe.

The fact that Angela was kept away from him was the last straw for Eric and that night he left the mansion after telling Ridge, Thorne and Kristen about Angela.

If you think that leaving the Forrester mansion strengthened Eric and Beth's realatios, you are greatly mistaken. They started to drift apart. Eric spent more and more time visiting Angela, and there he realized how much his family mean to him.

So, when Beth, who felt that Eric was drifting away from her, told him that either he will come back to her or she will go to Paris with Steven, Eric chose his family. This was the end of their love affair. Beth and her husband moved to Paris and Eric sort of reconciled with Stephanie and returned home.

But not for long ....
