While a heart-broken Brooke was in Paris making friends with Pierre, a cafe owner, and considering an abortion, a sad and troubled Eric wasn't about to give up on her. He did try to convince himself that it's all over between him and Brooke, and bury himself in his work preparing for the fall show.
But when a week went by without any news from Brooke and he couldn't take it any more, Eric decided to get to the bottom of it and went to Donna. Eric wasn't prepared for Donna's hostility and was horrified when he learned that Brooke was all alone in Paris with a broken heart because of him. Because she thought that he had reconciled with Stephanie. And if that wasn't enough, Donna told Eric that Brooke is pregnant with his child and considering having an abortion.
That's why 3 days before the 1990 Fall Showing Eric droped everything and hopped on the first flight to Paris, leaving behind 2 mystiffied sons and 1 very furious Stephanie.
In Paris with Pierre's help, Eric located Brooke in the hospital were she was getting ready for the abortion, and got there in time to stop it.
After explaining to Brooke that it was all a colossal misunderstanding and that he had no intention to reconcile with Stephanie, they vowed again their love to each other.
On the plane back to L.A. Eric asked Brooke to marry him. A very stunned and happy Brooke agreed. And Eric slipped a diamond engagement ring on her finger.
