Until now Eric Forrester always appeared as a very loving, caring and compassionate person. But from time to time a very different side of him emerge. A side that shows Eric as a revengeful man, a man that wouldn't hesitate to call the mother of his youngest children "poison".
In the past there were signs to that side of him when Eric tried to con Brooke out of her rights in the BeLieF formula. But it was nothing compared to his acts and deeds described here.
It's no secret that even after that horrible day, many years ago, when his 2nd wife Brooke unceremoniously dumped him for his eldest son Ridge, Eric was and is still in love with Brooke.
During the years he was always there for Brooke. Supporting her marriages to Ridge hoping that she will finally be happy, and picking up the pieces whenever Ridge dumped her. Eric even went as far as breaking his engagement to Stephanie when the later mistreated Brooke on the day Ridge left her to be with his son Tommy.
From time to time Eric tried to get Brooke interested in him again but to no avail. As far as Brooke was concerned it was all over for them. But Eric didn't give up and kept on loving her.
After Ridge annulled his latest marriage to Brooke the stage was set for an Eric & Brooke reunion. Both of then were free and Ridge was securely married to Taylor raising their children. It looked like finally nothing and nobody (The dreaded "N" words which always indicate that something is going to happen) is standing between Eric getting back together with Brooke.
But NO. Instead of going back to Eric, Brooke got involved with his 2nd son Thorne. It was the last straw for Eric. He couldn't take it anymore and snapped. If he can't have Brooke then nobody will.
Using Stephanie's health as an excuse, Eric launched his campaign to break up Brooke and Thorne. First he tried talking to Brooke. But Brooke kept on hurting Eric and demeaning their relationship by insisting that Thorne is the best thing that ever happened to her (Stupid Brooke, Eric is the best thing that has ever happened to you, not Ridge and not Thorne)..
When talking, ordering and threatening Brooke didn't help, Eric poured his heart to Thorne trying to get him to realize that Brooke was, is and always will be obsessed with Ridge. And that he, Thorne, is only a substitute as Eric was.
That very emotional and revealing speech didn't convince Thorne to leave Brooke, but Eric's Venice stunt did. For a while anyway. Thorne has again married Macy and Brooke was alone and miserable.
Eric's satisfaction from finally getting his revenge wasn't long lived. Short time after re-marrying Macy, Thorne asked her for a divorce and returned to Brooke.
This time, Eric wasn't able to use Stephanie's health as an excuse because the knowledge about that relationship almost didn't harm her. So he went along with Stephanie's decision to cut Thorne off from the family because of him choosing Brooke.
But Eric couldn't stay mad at Brooke for long. After all, he is, and always will be in love with her (JMHO). That's why Eric gave his blessing to Thorne & Brooke's wedding when Bridget stopped objecting to that marriage. He even tried to get Stephanie to accept the marriage.
Our story of Eric's attempt at revenge ends (for now) with Eric again having to watch his beloved Brooke getting married to one his sons.
